Katsina State, Optimal Image Media Collaborate to Fight Fake News

The Katsina State Government, in collaboration with Optimal Image Media Limited, organized a two-day training workshop for social media assistants across the 34 local government areas of the state. The workshop, held at the Katsina State Local Government Service Commission, was aimed at equipping participants with the tools necessary to combat the spread of fake news and misinformation, particularly in the context of the security challenges facing the state and the northern region.

In his opening remarks, Dahiru Hassan Kera, Managing Director of Optimal Image Media Limited, highlighted the critical importance of disseminating accurate information in the current climate of insecurity in Katsina State. He stressed that this training is essential for empowering media professionals and social media influencers to use digital platforms responsibly, thereby promoting the positive policies of the government.

Dr. Sha’aubu Mungadi, Chairman of the Governing Council of Optimal Image Media Limited, commended the Katsina State Government, under the leadership of Governor Dikko Umar Radda, for acknowledging the significant role of social media in modern governance. He pointed out that the workshop represents a joint effort between the government and Optimal Image Media Limited to enhance the capacity of media personnel in effectively communicating government policies and fostering transparency.

Representing the Commissioner of the Ministry of Information, Dr. Bala Salisu Zango, Amadi Abubakar Balarabe, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that social media assistants are well-equipped to act as a bridge between the government and the public. He underscored the importance of this workshop in enhancing participants' ability to disseminate accurate information and gather valuable feedback from the public.

The workshop, titled "Policy Communication and Implementation: The Role of the Media," concluded with participants expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to improve their skills and better understand the vital role they play in shaping public perception and supporting governance in Katsina State.
